Stitch and More was "born" in 1984 to Sally Criswell….
mother of 8 children who thought she could do anything! With a terminally
ill husband, I discovered that no one wanted to hire a middle-age woman
who hadn’t had a "paying" job in 14 years…so we
mortgaged the house and opened the shop on faith. The shop was to be
more work than all the children put together…tons of love…just
different. I’m not sure my children came to love the shop, but
they learned soooooo much over the years: love for others, compassion,
patience, bookkeeping, stocking and pricing inventory, and best of all…how
to make change!
In the 22 years of operation, the shop grew to be one of the 10 largest in the
country with over 3000 sq. feet of merchandise, 1200 stitched models, fun events,
and soooooo much more.
Sally has lectured, taught needlework classes on a national level, served on the board of the INRG national needlework association, started a 3-day training course for prospective shop owners who want to fulfill their dream of owning a shop, and has hosted many wonderful events throughout the country.
After selling the shop, Sally partnered up with Susan Greening Davis to form: “Still Stitching with Susan and Sally” to co-host weekend events around the world, an annual cruise, and this year a tour of Italy! Susan is a nationally recognized needlework designer and teacher appearing on HGTV and recognized as DMC Teacher of the Year. Attending one of there events is sure to be a highlight of your needlework career.
